A cold Monday night and I arrived at The Camera Club for the monthly art nude workshop run by my friend and mentor, Phil Westwood of PWPImages in a seriously bad mood. I had considered not going, who wants to be around a misery guts? But I felt it was better than staying in feeling sorry for myself.

I’m glad I went because I had the opportunity to meet and photograph a wonderful model: Joceline (pictured here). She has a vibrant, love life spirit, it was such a joy to shoot her that I quickly forgot why I was feeling low.

Here are a few images from that shoot, I’m really proud of what I achieved that evening. Also, because I decided to shoot with just one lens, my 50mm 1.8. That meant that I had to move around if I wanted a wide shot. However, I chose to stay tight to capture the beauty, softness and sensuality that Joceline evokes in these pictures.

Photography is my therapy. As Phil talked us through each lighting set up I relaxed more into it as my desire to learn and absorb his vast knowledge took priority over whatever cloud I’d entered the building with. Joceline’s professionalism and experience made a huge difference. It was easy to direct her into different poses in addition to the many she adopted naturally.

I wonder what your therapy is, how do you get yourself out of a low mood?

I can pick up my camera and play, what do you do?

With love

Sharon

I’d like to welcome you to my new website.

I’m simply doing what I love and what I’m good at, like Jason Statham. You’re going to have to read more if you want to find out how he taught me a lesson. And yes that is me!

My tag line: Photography To Unwrap Your Sensual Self succinctly describes the service I offer. I didn’t spend thousands on consultants or marketing experts to come up with that, I just sat down, thought deeply about what I do and the words came.

I’d like you to get to know me, go on over to my About page, it explains why I’ve been drawn to this style of photography. My Work With Me page has some questions/reasons why women choose to do boudoir.

The Lesson from Mr Statham

Saturday night in relaxing with my husband. It was cold outside and we’d decided to cuddle up on the sofa and check out what Netflix was all about.

May as well give it a go. So, we signed up for a free month’s trial.

We watched an action movie. I didn’t want to think, I just wanted the usual mindless stuff: shooting, chasing cars, things blowing up, not too much dialogue and chose The Mechanic with Jason Statham.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting anything but I loved it, it ticked all the boxes and I discovered something about Jason Statham that I really, really liked.

You see, I think as an actor, Jason Statham has found a genre of film and a type of character that he’s excelled at: the action hero. I’m not an expert on his career but it looks as though he’s made similar types of movie. He’s the brooding almost monosyllabic protagonist, chasing and killing bad guys. He wears leather, is unshaven, the women love him and he always gets the bad guy. I could write his next movie.

The penny dropped. Jo James. She said they did. Jason helped. Thanks Jason.

Find and do what you love and what you’re good at.

After The Mechanic we watched another Jason Statham movie because by then I was hooked.

Incidentally, did you know that Jason Statham was a member of Britain’s National Diving Squad for 12 years? Neither did I. Thanks Wikipedia.

Thanks for stopping by, really good to meet you. Why not fill in your details and I’ll send you my unique Unwrap Your Sensual Self gift.

With love
